Re: Slider Window Size and Make

Yes the Awning style windows are available thru SportsMobile . I ran outside and took a few Snapshots for you that are now in my Gallery . These have been a long running style window by CL Lawrence and other manufactures .

I think my next step will be cutting out some cardboard in a couple different lengths, 15"-17"high, and putting it in the same spot, behind the drivers door.

Ron, does your window have a screen?
Yes it has a screen and it slides open as well I love it.

Re: Slider Window Size and Make

To me window size should be according to interior layout.
I see a few windows half covered with interior cabinetry. That looks like interference of the two (to me).
In my build I am trying to mimic a factory look - which is not a small aftermarket window.
I realize many are not looking for the 'factory look'.
I have gone with a slider door on my van. On my drivers side window I am using a window of very similar size.
The height of the drivers door window and the length of the slider window.
Just for symmetry. I get caught up on balance/symmetry... lol
The interior pieces are intruding minimally into my window space. In which its hard to have a large window and not have cabinetry impede into your/my window space.
CRL seems to be the most common and biggest mfg of van windows. That is what SMB uses I believe.
I am using CR Laurence.

This is the only pic of mine so far - my interior is under construction. My cabinet will go apprx 4" into window space... Argh!
But minimally compared to some.

Re: Slider Window Size and Make

maxacceleration, I too have notice interference with some layouts. I completely understand the idea of having symmetry, that is why I don't want a large bay window. Your layout up front is similar to what I have going on, nice seats by the way. I too have two captains chairs that are fixed in about the same spot you have yours and the window I pop in will have to meet not only the need for ventilation when we're camped, but be useful to someone(my daughter) when we're on the road. I've looked at getting a T-Slider and a large half slider they just seem too big to me.

maxacceleration can you tell me the dimensions of your T-Slider. I looked into a T-Slider that was 41-1/8" X 21-1/4" , just want to know if that's it. It looks very well proportioned to your interior.

Greggde and Jage, thank you for the photos! This is what I found on ebay as far as a Awning Style window.

Re: Slider Window Size and Make

Doug, my T-slider is 44 1/4" x 22". VW21601L is the number, CR Laurence.
My rear seats are factory 2010 Ford seats to match the front seats.
I saved big money on these off ebay. Brand new take offs for $625 shipped (the pair!).

Good luck with your set-up. There is a lot to consider.

Re: Slider Window Size and Make

Nice Ron, That's the one I was after. Thanks! But now Greggde and Jage have corrupted me with the thought of an Awning style window. So many choices now.

By the way Ron, what is that rigid insulation you have on your ceiling?

That is Reflectix on the roof. I did the whole van with it sides and floors. as for the Awning style window Those are really nice as well and look great. The one on Greggde and Jages SMBs sure do look great. I wanted a slider for the spot where mine is I feel safer if I wanted to drive with it open and It also doubles and a gun port ..

Slider Window Size and Make Maybe Awning Style Size and Make

Thanks Gregged, I think you and Jage have given me some more to consider. I like the idea of being able to leave it open when it's raining.

Later,
Doug
