SMB EB 61

Anyone out there have a SMB EB61 with a Penthouse top? (Or a rig designed for 6 people?)

http://www.sportsmobile.com/1_std-eb-plans.html

I am interested in getting some opinions about using it to camp with a wife and 4 kids, i.e. 6 people. Possible? Too Cramped? Do the kids mind riding sideways on the Couch?

Anyone have any photos of a finished build?

Thank you in advance for your time!

Robert

Re: SMB EB 61

I do not have the 61, but love this design. Gauchos turn into a big bed, and have the pop up bed. I have 3 small kids. They love to sit on the gauchos, and my youngest has his carseat in the capt chair. Capt chairs can be taken out to make more room if you so desire.

Re: SMB EB 61

We have the 61 with a couple minor changes w/cabnets & such and it is perfect for us.
(my wife and I + 3 kids 6 to 10 yrs old)
The kids love the gaucho and there are NO issues with anyone getting car sick which we were told can happen with kids sitting sideways with the 61 layout.
2 kids can sleep upstairs and they fight over it. The coolest thing they've ever seen.
We take the gaucho and the other sleeps in the fold out dinette setup.
You could sleep another young child in the dinette and we may try it a time or two but thats getting a little tight for sleeping. This wouldn't even be an option with the 60.
Realistically 2 adults and 2 to 3 kids is perfect for sleeping.
For driving there is plenty of room for 7 easy.
The walk through plan makes it very comfortable and open and storage is pretty good under the dinette.

Re: SMB EB 61

I've got, basically, the EB 27 layout and 4 kids as well. We got the layout with 4 people in mind (two of our kids are a lot older) and it's worked pretty well for us. 4 is the max we've slept with our layout.

I can't speak to the gaucho but we are not overjoyed with the dinette seats as far as comfort and safety while driving. A full size person can't really sit in them comfortably for anything over and hour or two. I don't like putting a kid sideways or in a seat without a shoulder belt, but I can go a little overbaord on being SafetyDad, maybe.

Re: SMB EB 61

The seating in our dinette is the larger of the 2 so its pretty comfortable for the kids or adults (more of a leg room issue with adults). With the dinette table in though it its pretty tight. For that reason the table came out and went into storage. Never have put it back or missed it since. Our cbnets are all low too so the line of sight from front to back is good and very open.
