So I guess Ford thinks that by using the same numbering scheme as the E and F series, Ford thinks consumers will associate the capabilities of these vans with those of the E & F series?

Re: SMB Ford E-350 Cut-away w/fiberglass body

I believe the numbering system is based on an industry-accepted standard.

T-450 would be a Class 4 truck, and T-550 a Class 5. Apparently Ford protected those names so when (or if) they expand the Transit line to fill everything vacated by E-Series they won't have to buy off some guy who may have filed for them in advance.

As previously discussed, we don't really know what a T-450 or T-550 may or may not involve. I personally expect body-on-frame with similar engines as heavier-duty F-series. Ford is not going to abandon the 25-plus-foot Class C market, and since the E-Series won't be around forever, they won't have a choice but to produce a competitive replacement.

There are a lot thinking just like you and I one of them. Sorry I don't like being pushed into certain body styles. The market seems flooded with ugly body styles and there are so many it's unreal. Who are these designers? I guess all these engineers work like Hollywood... we're gonna shove this down your throat and you'll like it or go without. Where is the "Sniper" looking rig? They want to make me conform to the "Friends" looking rig

Euro trash. Euro designers and those folks seem to like that stuff. Not me either. All of the Transits and Pro-Masters are really fugly and wish they would come back with the vans most of us lust after. YMMV

I keep expecting a metro-sexual Shaggy and hermaphrodite Scooby Doo to come bouncing out of that thing with a Euro accent.

Sad. We are considering an Action Mobil or Global Ex rather than that trash. Zoinks.

Would you buy a Transit for a Scooby Snack? How about two Scooby Snacks?

This is why I bought an E350 6.0 diesel in the U.S. Ford E350 Sportsmobile is the No 1 off-road vehicle in the world. There is nothing else like it, for size an ability. Earthroamer, too big, too high, Too Heavy.
It's not perfect. Everything is a compromise.
And that come from an Australian.

That's true. All except for the whole 6.0 Powerstuck Diesel part. Its a little unnerving when you have a vehicle that can take you places where it would take 3 days to walk out and the engine barely gets you to the turnoff of the highway.

That's not a knock on SMB mind you, just a reality of owning the Powersh%* diesel.
