Re: SMB or truck & camper

My $.02 as a former truck/camper owner: they can be too tall if not a pop-up style. Traveling in SW AZ desert country, we were stopped by Palo Verde trees overhanging washes even though our PU was 4x4. We went with SMB's van for all the reasons outlined above. WRT 4wd, we've had occasion to use it on flat open icy surfaces when the 2wd system wouldn't grab so don't think of it as a backcountry-only option. I actually use it more frequently for downhill braking than crazy adventures.

Re: SMB or truck & camper

If your still on the fence about van vs truck, check out a Tiger. Offers some of the best of both.

They take a stock pickup, remove the bed, attach their camper body to the frame and cut a crawl thru to the cab.

This one was mentioned in another thread yesterday.
