SMB propane tank mounting
For all you true SMB guys with propane tanks. Could you all shoot and post a few pictures of how/where its mounted?
I'm wondering where SMB put it, because I'm having a hard time thinking of a good place to put it that is 1) out of the way, and 2) shielded from any sort of debris.
Thanks!

They are usually mounted outboard of the driver side frame rail, hanging from the floor. Then an access door is cut into the side of the body.
Mine isn't a SMB but I bought the tank, regulator, regulator cover, and access door from them.

I did not want to cut a hole in the side of my van so the propane tank is mounted underneath. See post number 84 on my build thread.
The tank was installed before the 4wd conversion and lift. Never scraped when it was still 2wd.

The propane tank in our 2019 Transit (Manchester 7.9 gal) is mounted horizontally beneath the van behind the rear axle where the spare tire would normally reside. The fill valve is placed on the driver’s side aft of the rear tire. Our propane Dometic stove and Truma-Combi heater our controlled electronically inside the van. We also have a propane fitting on the outside of the van that is used for our portable camp stove when we choose to cook outdoors.

Also not a true SMB.
Made up some brackets and burned them onto the frame.

I'll jump in here as I did my install last year, and placed the tank on the passenger side.Did not want to cut a hole for the cover that SMB does and am very happy with its placement.

I’m a true SMB guy and my van has the propane delete option. Heating is done with a gasoline webasto heater and cooking done on a portable single burner stove. The portable stove is great for cooking outside the van on hot days. I’m just trying to share a build option that has worked great for me.

When you mount it up include a quick disconnect fitting on it so you can run a line to your outside camping appliances.
You can run a bbq, stove, lights, portable propane campfire, or anything else you need from the big tank mounted underneath and get rid of those pesky 1 lb cylinders and bulky 20 lb units.

I just got back from 3 day's in Coconino NF where i took a spare 20lb tank because I needed to refill our little 1lb bottles.
Thanks guys!!! I appreciate all the pictures, advice, links, etc!! This is a wealth of info. Looks like the Manchester tanks with the bash plates are well loved, and makes me feel a little better given what we do (and have done) in our van.
That said, if anyone has anymore I'd love to see them.
