They extend down 27-3/4" from the ceiling. The 1" diameter tubes are slightly shorter than that due to the hinge at the top. I think that I got them when we had a manual top before retrofitting an electric one. Possibly the electrical setup doesn't raise the penthouse up quite as high since I need to push up on the ceiling to get the front ones completely vertical.
