Re: So many questions
I'm in the 2 wheel drive camp. In over 35 thousand miles, about 10 thousand on dirt and gravel roads from La Paz, Baja to Dead Horse, Alaska, there have only been two or three times I would have put it in 4 wheel if I had it (sand in Anza Borrego and big ponds on the Usal Road in May). Snow is the only reason I would go for 4 wheel, and I don't do a lot of winter camping. All you need for dogs in Mexico and Canada is an international health certificate, which you get from your vet. The last time I was in Mexico they didn't ask for it on the way in or out. Love the solar, porta poti, and inside two burner stove. Don't need heater, water heater. I like the rb50 for travel with two people and two dogs. I bought used because I couldn't wait for a build. The only thing I wish I had is the electric top. Like everybody has said, it all depends on how YOU will use the van. Be as realistic as you can about how you will use it or you will spend big bucks on things you don't need, or could add later, then just do it.
