Sportsmobile Electric Penthouse Top will not come down - HELP!
Our Sportsmobile Penthouse top went up yesterday and now will not come down. I pulled all the carpet back to inspect the twin electric cylinder system. Nothing visually seems out of place. I could not find anything binding or any loose/broken wires. Our Sportsmobile manual only shows how to troubleshoot a manual top. Our particular owners manual does not have anything about the electric top. Another post in the forum mentioned an inline fuse but I could not find anything. My hunch is it has to be an electrical issue since neither cylinder makes any noise when moving the switch. This has of course happened while our Sportsmobile is an hour away from home.....parked where it should not be parked....in subfreezing temps....with water in the tanks. We have our single fuel (diesel) furnace running and our battery is fully charged but time is of the essence since the battery will eventually drain. Any suggestions are GREATLY appreciated. HELP!!!

Haven't dealt with an electric top but sent you a pm with some thoughts.

I have never seen the inline fuse, but then I never really looked for it either. I would measure to see if you have 12 volts at the switch it is a DPDT switch 12 and ground will be the middle row of terminals. It was said on a thread somewhere a long time ago that a 12 volt drill battery could power the actuators in a emergency.

There was an inline fuse on the SEMA van under the hood where the power wire came out of the battery junction box. Left side, along inner fender. Where ever they are getting power from, there should be a fuse.

Thanks for all the responses! The unit is a 2006 E350 diesel. The engine batteries for this unit are located under the passenger side of the van. My search last night in the dark did not find any blown fuses but I will try again today while it's light.
Our instinct, of course, was to call Sportsmobile but things like this naturally always happen on the weekend!

Our electric penthouse is a retro-fit by SMB Fresno. The fuse for is in "inside" the switch on the wall which raises and lowers the penthouse.

A quick update to all who took the time to respond to my post.......we could not find a fuse in the switch or an inline fuse. We were forced to finally pull the pins on the actuator arms and remove the bolts at the swivel on each side in order to get the top down and the Sportsmobile back home safely. We determined we have power to the switch. Maybe our switch failed?? I will call Sportsmobile tomorrow to discuss with them and hopefully find a cure. THANK YOU to all in the Sportsmobile community who took the time to respond.
