Sportsmobile posts photo of 2011 Nissan Conversion
Here are some pictures from Sportsmobile's conversion of the van (Nissan NV Van). They expect to complete the conversion "in about 6 weeks".

If my dog was as ugly as that van I would shave its butt and teach it to walk backwards.

Re: Sportsmobile posts photo of 2011 Nissan Conversion
Ugly I can deal with but really badly designed and impractical vans? That's a different matter. Nissan should be ashamed of themselves. I predict this throwback to 1940's design will be a flop, which will probably make Nissan withdraw from the US van market instead of bringing in some of the 'real' vans that they already sell to the rest of the world.
I'll put a little money on the sales ratio of the new Ford Transits to these Nissans being at least 10-1.

I believe this is what NYC just picked as their new taxi over the ford transit. Although the transit and Taurus were approved for fleet use. Go figure...way to support the US economy NYC transportation officials!

i have to agree on its lack of beauty. my wife and i saw one on the hwy and just laughed at how ugly it was. I suppose if they'd put it out with a 4x4 options those wanting such could look at the beauty underneath? :?

That was the NV 200. The NV200 is not approved for retail sales in the US, so the NYC taxi fleet will be the only sales in the US. It is sold in Asian markets however.
Also, the Transit Connect was the Ford approved for NYC taxi use. The full size Transit isn't selling quite yet.
Transit Connect:
Transit (Full Size):
The full size transit will finally give Ford an under 8500 GVWR full size van, which has been missing since '07 when the E150 became a 3/4-ton. It will likely replace the the E250 as well, but the heavy vans will still be E-series.

I agree. I'm not sure I see the logic in taking Nissan's pickup, which has seen slumping sales and is hardly competitive anymore, and trying to make it into a van which loses the prime advantage of a van: high interior space to length ratio. Might as well just put a raised roof on a Suburban.

Re: Sportsmobile posts photo of 2011 Nissan Conversion
Saw two Nissan vans on last outing Seems like some of the AMC designers came out of retirement. Sorry Nissandudes, but the "vans" are laughably ugly Dufucday thinkin'?
