deja vu , I have been down this one before . Your experience as you have stated in the past was bad . Based on SMBwest production numbers from day one , you ended up in a very small percentage of customers. If I owned a business producing very customized highly technical products I would be very comfortable with a few very unhappy customers . would not matter if i was the Turd Sandwich , or the customer was the Turd Sandwich . IMO

I have spoken to the Colorado Camper vans and received totally different vibes. In fact we got off subject about 4x4's and rock crawling, very approachable, IMOP. I am sure they are not perfect but arrogance does not seem to be one of them.
Whichever van builder, mod shop, etc, do your due diligence as usual; search the forums, search Google, Yelp, talk to friends and your refrigerator repairman, etc.

For the most part I believe every up fitter tries to put there best foot forward... It's what they do when things go sides ways that matters. This can also vary based on where the company is with growth, new products and work force numbers. Lots a things at play... SMB West (now know as some other name) does roughly a 1000 vans a year. So when things don't go as planned the snowball effect can be pretty bad. I can't imagine dealing with that work flow... I have a hard enough time managing 250 vans a year (last 4 year average for CCV). Sometimes it doesn't matter what is done for a client... they are just going to be unhappy, other times they really appreciate the extra effort. Every single client is different and has different expectations and that's probably the hardest variable in this industry compared to others I've worked in... YMMV.

Unless things have changed since last March, SMB West builds 5 vans per week (~250 vans per year) + warranty repairs, + additions (pop tops, propane and electrical installs, upgrades, etc.). We have been very pleased with our van and would certainly have them repair or build another van in the future.

They were running on covid 19 rules. Surprised they were getting 5 per week.

I picked ours up on March 17, the day after Gov. Newsom began the lock-down in California. They didn’t open for business again until late April. Fortunately, since our van was already completed, they let me come in, go through the check out, pay the balance and out the door. But that’s another story. The 5 vans per week was what Nick Gennock, my salesperson at SMB West, told me when I did my initial visit in December to finalize the build of our Transit.

makes sense , I was told they have 180 units on the books for build out not including tops and that will take them through the 1 year building hiatus.

Looking at the Sportsmobile website https://sportsmobile.com/west-announcement/ It looks like Sportsmobile plans on opening up a new west location in 2021.

I guess it’s “official.” In Fresno getting some warranty work on the rig. We developed some “ bubbles” in the ceiling carpet.
