We took Flint (2016 4wd 144” 2500) up Coyote Flat Road outside of Bishop CA. This trail carries a rating of 3-6 and I would say it tested Flint’s capabilities!

The road up to the plateau on top is the challenge and I would not do it without the underbody protection the skid plates provide as we scraped over rocks in multiple locations. Just crawl under a Sprinter and look at the plastic fuel tank and you will understand!

The van did well on this trail, better than I expected. It is a single track trail, and you will get an appreciation for just how big these vehicles are when trying to find a spot wide enough for two vehicles to pass when you meet oncoming traffic. The tougher parts of this trail represent about as much as I would want to do in this vehicle, plenty capable enough for what we want the vehicle to do.

Fitz, with those trail ratings in mind (3-6), would you have gone anywhere near that trail with a 170EB 4x4?

In a word, no. In my opinion, the steep and rocky switchback section on the way up would be too much.
