Starcool Auxiliary AC No Air

I apologize in advance Because people may have already answered this. My 1997 Dodge 3500 Sportsmobile Starcool Auxiliary AC is not blowing air in the back of the van. The driving cabin blows air but only on the MAX setting. The Starcool unit is positioned under the hood to the left on the passenger side. I have never used the 110 system. I have only used the solar to use the the cigarette outlets and that is it. Please tell me what I am doing wrong or what is going on. I tremendously appreciate all of you!!!! SMB, Starcool, A/C, 1997, fan

To be clear, are you trying to run the AC off of 110 for the first time? Are there any clicking relays? Do you have the blowers on? Does the thermostat have a heat AND cool option? I just had to replace my capacitor, and 2 relays to make mine work again in my 2000. There was a clicking relay, but the compressor wouldn't fire. I was hoping it wasn't a seized compressor and it fired right up with a few new parts!

(Yes)

(I’m sorry but I’m not sure or can’t hear this)

Thermostat Behind Drivers head. It does Heat and Cool.

I used 1 can of Avalanche Refrigerant from Napa Auto Parts. The label on the Starcool Auxiliary AC says 4.25 lbs so I’ll have to fill it with about 3.20 lbs more. I was also wanting to know if anyone knows the Full Charge PSI of the Starcool Auxiliary AC because the can I bought does PSI instead of Pounds.

I do not know what compressors or lines, valves, or anything are.

Dude. Don't use those canned products to completely fill your system. It needs to go to a mechanic. They have a machine that does it properly. It cost me $75 to fill my empty system last time.

Randomly adding refrigerant can cause system damage due to over pressurizing. What made you think you need to add any? If it's low, that means you have a leak that must be fixed. If it needs a full charge, it's likely also got air in the lines and must first be evacuated with a vacuum pump prior to recharging, but it sounds like there are other issues that need to be fixed first. Do you have a Starcool manual? You should be able to find one using Google. I think you should just take it to a shop.

No I couldn’t find the Starcool Manual Or anything about any starcool systems. The BEST place was here on these forums. That’s why I am asking for people who have gone through the same issues and have experience and know where to reference the Starcool information because google was not generating any information. Thank you @artictraveller

@artictraveller The only thing air that comes on is the air through the Vents on the dashboard of the cabin and only operates at Max. So, I was suggested by others to recharge the A/C.

If the rear blower doesn't come on you need to start there. There are lot's of threads about starcool, one very recent.

Back to the point. If you only feel air at Max something is wrong. Take it to a mechanic. They can check for leaks. It is not the Starcool it is your whole system that needs to be checked. Once they diagnose you can start fixing it.
