Starcool II questions

In my continuing effort to get my 95 Dodge 318’s Starcool AC working, I’ve got 2 questions:

1. Does anyone know of an AC mechanic in the Portland Oregon area? I’ve asked my mechanic and one or 2 others who either say no to an RV aftermarket system.

2. The one shop that seemed willing had this question: if they do work on the Starcool II system and need to replace parts, are there still parts to be had from Starcool?

Many thanks Sportsmobilers

The guy who works on mine also works on diesel big rigs after market AC systems and he didn't care who made it. Some will depend on which part they need. It might be difficult to find a shore power compressor but most of the DC system shouldn't be too much of a problem. It just depends if they are willing to tackle the job.

Most parts are off the shelf, Starcool didn’t manufacture the compressor, condenser, evaporator, fans etc. Some of the plumbing is a bit custom, but a competent shop should be able to fabricate any hoses needed. The wiring is unique, but again, it uses standard relays, switches, connectors etc. I don’t understand why so many shops are afraid to work on them.
