Unhappy Stolen: 2002 E-250 2x4 - looking for comps for insurance

Bummer. My van was stolen in San Francisco this week. I posted to the r/sanfrancisco sub-Reddit. Posting here as well for visibility:

https://www.reddit.com/r/sanfrancisc...mobile_if_you/

What would be really helpful is to find a similar van for sale to get a comparable price for insurance. If you know of a spec sheet / sales listing that fits these criteria please send over:
  • 2x4 (not 4x4, lol)
  • Not EB
  • ~200k miles
  • Sportsmobile, duh

🤞

Damn, sorry about your loss.

Unfortunately, not the first SMB stolen out of the SF area. Seems like the criminals are wanting to get in on the Van Life craze.

What interior layout does it have?

I just sold a 93 ford 2x4 with a lift and new motor for $14k. 280k miles.

And a 1998 Chevy 2x4 for $11,000 but had some body damage. Had 244k on it.

Both were full build outs with pop tops and no rust.

Both are listed on here

Sorry for your loss. That's a terrible feeling.

Last spring I bought a 1998 E250 (goldish) EB50, 145,000 miles, no rust for $25,500.

My experience

I had my 2012 van with Sportsmobile poptop stolen parked on the street in Walnut Creek, with a cargo trailer attached.

I ended up recovering both and still have them 5 years later. The van was stripped of valuables and dumped in a parking lot near Bart about 10 days later. The trailer was towed a month later for being illegally parked and had no damage. The towing companies are their own source of damage and cost.

To recover, I just had to reinstall what was taken. There was no sabotage though the van was filled with trash.

The van was pretty easy to steal. They just drill out the side door lock, get in, drill out the ignition lock, use a screw driver with cheater to break the ignition and start the van, and drive away.

I now use a steering wheel lock when parking in risky locations, which all of the Bay Area is. The security bar is visible and may be a deterrent. I remove the battery leads if I want more security. I may install other security devices. I would like to have those very secure locks on the door that make them impossible to open even if the windows are broken.

Good luck in recovery. If they find it, go get it before they tow it and save a thousand dollars.

As far as I’m able to determine, Ravelco is the only thing those guys can’t beat. They say no Ravelco-equipped vehicle has ever been stolen. I thought it was worth it and got it done a couple of months ago.
