THE LONGEST DAY

Well we just got home from a trip to Montana, went to Glacier NP and then Trout creek to visit some family, the weather was great and it was light untill just after 10 pm.....nice.

Well the longest day is refering to the trip home to northern Ca, we drove straight threw all 922 miles of it, I can't take credit for all the driving my wife drove about 200 mile of it.

Just wondering about some of your LONG days..........

Re: THE LONGEST DAY

Hi,

Even we do not have a SMB yet, we do have long days.
Driving from Sweden to Germany 1-2 a year, which are about 1450km (870 miles). Mostly I do it in one stretch (stopping for Gas, Food and Restroom), which are
with a Syncro Vanagon ~ 24 Hours
with a 4x4 LT ~ 20-21 Hours
with a Jeep Cherokee ~ 16 Hours

everytime with a 3 Ton Trailer pushing us down the hill.

Re: THE LONGEST DAY

No real long days yet but it was nice to find out I can drive from Great Basin National Park on the Nevada Utah border to central California in about 10 hours. And even at legal speeds with a lunch stop, several photographic pull overs plus another stop to wash my vehicle.

Re: THE LONGEST DAY

This wasn't with our SMB, but we drove all the way from San Ignacio lagoon straight through to San Diego, including the always fun border crossing. 15+ hours, I'm so thankful for books on cd.

Re: THE LONGEST DAY

Not in the SMB, but 3.5 days driving solo, cross-country from near DC to home in California, a few days after 9-11.

Lots of time alone with my thoughts.

Re: THE LONGEST DAY

One trip in the SMB solo from Santa Barbara, CA, straight through to Moab, UT, around 900 miles in 14 hours.

Re: THE LONGEST DAY

I'm afraid my longest day was waiting for the tow truck to get my van from the Top of the World Highway into Dawson. It may have only been 12 hours on the clock, but it sure seemed more like 24 hours.

I'll post the story under trip reports.
