A 4 second crank sounds suspiciously like the fuel pump on the v10. If I forget about one of my own security measures that's roughly what it feels like when I fix that connection.

To be honest a system like the Ravelco is neat, and brutally effective, but really makes me nervous in terms of knock on side-effects.

Thanks guys, played with the van again and I guess I should say it's more of a two second crank instead of four, but still longer than the half second crank a normal start takes.

MadScience, your comment on the fuel pump made me think that maybe the plug needed to be inserted to supply PCM power to then send power to the fuel pump...but doesn't seem to be the case. Even with the plug removed, if I turn the key "on" I can hear the fuel pump priming...which really makes me confused since I thought the Ravelco stopped power to the fuel pump?

I don't know if there is a standard set of wires the Ravelco guys always use for each vehicle but I'd image it might have differences depending on make, model, year, engine, etc. so everyone may have a different experience.

Anyway, I'm going to see if I can borrow a STAR tester and see if some of those learned KAM parameters go back to base when the plug is removed and then inserted.

IIRC Ravelco have a whole bunch of wires they can select from per vehicle, and which are assigned to which pin, and which are cut at all are choices made per vehicle. (I could be wrong though, this is from memory from when I looked into them a couple years ago.) That's what makes their solution actually secure.

The Ravelco was installed in our 2013 V-10 EB50 two weeks ago and I've driven over 600 miles since. Cranking time has not changed, turns right over as it always has, turning the key immediately after inserting the plug. Haven't noticed any other changes in function since the installation. Wish you success in tracking down the issue.

I had Ravelco's on two previous vehicles, and have it on one current vehicle. No change in cranking time before/after Ravelco was installed.

Thanks everyone for checking and posting your findings, obviously I must have gotten mine wired up differently. I'll update when I find out more details.

Just to follow up, I hooked up an IDS and saw that IACKAM0, IACKAM1, IACKAM2, IACKAM3 all went back to zero when the plug was removed and then reinserted...IAC being the idle Air control learning that takes place when your vehicle is in different states such as drive AC off, AC on, etc. So this is not how you want your vehicle to run, basically relearning all these trim values everytime you reinsert your plug. I had the wiring redone to remove the keep alive interrupt and things are working better now, no crank delay anymore either. So, in my opinion, stay away from any Keep Alive Memory (KAM ) circuits. You might be OK with cutting PCM vpower since that the power on/off you get from ignition on/off anyway but I just stayed away from any PCM power altogether to be safe.
