Two red leads to original equipment propane detector?

Hello All,

I am replacing the original equipment propane detector in my 95 Dodge SMB.
There are three leads (two red, one black) attached to old detector.

I am curious of the reason for two hot leads?
(one house battery & one starting battery?)

My new detector has just one.
I guess I will get out the mutli-meter and do some checking.

Any advice on reconnecting is appreciated.
