Assuming that they are 6061-T6...weld repairs generally end up cracking right next to the new weld unless the part is re-heatreated......
That would explain why the welder I have used for aluminum work mentioned that he uses his friends powder coating oven. I never put the two together although I have never had a failure of his welds. Which is why I go to him.

Nope. It’s a repair from previous owner. There is a 5 gallon meth injection tank in the box and a 5 gallon diesel Jerry can as well. I’ll be receiving the new swing arm in a week and getting the updated spare tire carrier as well. Didn’t mean to hijack this thread also.....
Yeah that happened to mine (although not in the exact same spot). The tire I was carrying was too wide for the carrier and putting pressure on it. Aluminess totally fixed it and modified it for a wider tire for free. I just paid shipping. They were way cool about it.
