Re: Underfloor storage-aftermarket

My down and dirty basement. I carry firewood, chains, small shovel, 5 gallons of diesel in this when needed. I would have liked access from inside but that wasn't a deal killer for me.

More details here, http://www.ourexcellentadventures.com/t ... e-carrier/

Regards,

Keith

Hey Keith,
That's a nifty arrangement. What holds the rack in the up position. I couldn't tell from the pictures.

The original hook system for the spare was left to hold it up.

Re: Underfloor storage-aftermarket

Thank goodness I made a full sized mock-up of the basement first.

After a test fit I was able to change this with just a hand saw.

A box made of metal? Not so easy.

I think a stainless box could be easily made and "dropped" in and supported by the floor all the way around for a flush fit. . thanx for all the ideas guys!

I'm sure this is doable, and probably easier that what I'm planning, but I think you might have to sacrifice some space along the back edge. The finished floor would also have to be high enough since it has to match the thickness of whatever type of access hatch you install if you want it flush.

I'm stalled at the moment since I don't have a out-of-the-weather place to work. Got my final measurement for the "box" but if I have it made now it will just sit around in the garage until spring.

Re: Underfloor storage-aftermarket

I've had a battery box made out of stainless before and it was pretty cheap but I had a friend do it. I will hopefully get something made when the weather breaks and I start on the rear of my van.
