Our 2016 Sprinter with Penthouse is sitting in the driveway, ready to go someplace (soon!), but at present just simulating an oven. We have a rear awning window that opens, and we have the window vents that can be placed in the front door windows, but natural convection just doesn't do enough.
SMB will not install a Fantastic Fan in the penthouse because it would reduce the safety of the roof by cutting through cross supports. It seems like we need some kind of roof vent and/or some kind of low-power fan to move air through the van. Has anyone come up with a solution to this issue?
This works great for me. It has two speeds, low power draw, easily and is adjustable with rotating base plus tiltable head, meaning I can point it to blow directly towards/over me. It has made a hot night bearable on multiple occasions.

Or, you could make a bracket that fits over a rear awning window and mount a fan like this - essentially sucking interior air and forcing it out the awning window (just have a long DC cord attached to plug it in when you want to use it - I'm sure you could find a similar one cheaper) https://www.amazon.com/Lil-Champ-Del...B0984E6E883F59
If you do not want a powered option Fantastic Fan makes a static vent that does not require power. It has a manual crank to open it. We have one and it works great to add cross ventilation with a window open..
