Re: Wanting, needing, desiring.....my first SMB, but.....

Short answers:
1. VERY!
2. YES!
3. NO.
4. No idea, but I would consider a covered type utility trailer for storing gear and maybe sleeping 2 (with some fold down wall beds or something), since your van is basically going to be full of seats.

There is a maintenance factor with any SMB's, (some more than others ) and that isn't just engine issues.
With such a huge investment I'd be asking if the kids are always wanting to go with mom & dad, or whether or not they want friends along. I mean back in my youth, we packed 6 into a smaller trailer than my SMB being puller by a station wagon. How convenient being packed into a van is more of a personal choice. I'd think 4 people is very doable IMO if you pack a tent. Six people? Wow, a little tight. A 4x4 trailer with sleeping quarters might be a good choice for more people although the high tech trailers can be an expensive piece of additional equipment. I have an SMB trailer and it is nice on long adventures.

maybe this post will help
