Re: Weigh Stations

Looking to weigh in around east San Diego. Any favorite spots?
Are certain kinds of scales more accurate than others? There's the public scales, the city dumps, and the freeway scales. Not sure if some are better maintained than others.
Thanks.

Re: Weigh Stations

Most scales are checked by DMS so they are supposed to be accurate but I would avoid a poorly run business. Most any place that weighs for the DMV should be OK.

Re: Weigh Stations

Just used the Tahoe-Truckee Landfill off Hwy. 89 between Truckee and Tahoe City in CA. They were pretty nice and didn't seem to have a problem with a free weigh.

Re: Weigh Stations

There's a recycling center in Santa Clara, CA - and a free truck scale behind it, scale display is on 24/7. I try to be quick and quiet when using it.

It's on Robert St in Santa Clara, at the end where it U turns into Mathew St.

5680lbs (empty cargo RB E350 w/ 1 bench seat & empty fuel tank).

Will re-weigh after my build-out .

Re: Weigh Stations

Thanks for this post. It never would have occurred to me that it would be ok to use a weigh station. I'm concerned about keeping the weight distributed evenly on the frame. It's a safety thing: shock & spring wear, cross-wind handling. A real-world read-out suits me better than a lot of number crunching. Thanks again.

Re: Weigh Stations on Highway 34 in Oregon

While headed to the beach last weekend found two more. These are between mile posts 40 and 41 on U.S. Highway 20 between Corvallis and Lincoln City just east of Blodgett, Oregon. They are unattended but left on.

Re: Weigh Stations

There's also another scale just north of Corvallis on Hwy 99, just past the Valley Landfill. This is where I usually weight our trucks at.
