Looking to weigh in around east San Diego. Any favorite spots?
Are certain kinds of scales more accurate than others? There's the public scales, the city dumps, and the freeway scales. Not sure if some are better maintained than others.
Thanks.
Most scales are checked by DMS so they are supposed to be accurate but I would avoid a poorly run business. Most any place that weighs for the DMV should be OK.

Just used the Tahoe-Truckee Landfill off Hwy. 89 between Truckee and Tahoe City in CA. They were pretty nice and didn't seem to have a problem with a free weigh.
Thanks for this post. It never would have occurred to me that it would be ok to use a weigh station. I'm concerned about keeping the weight distributed evenly on the frame. It's a safety thing: shock & spring wear, cross-wind handling. A real-world read-out suits me better than a lot of number crunching. Thanks again.
While headed to the beach last weekend found two more. These are between mile posts 40 and 41 on U.S. Highway 20 between Corvallis and Lincoln City just east of Blodgett, Oregon. They are unattended but left on.
