Weigh Stations

Was driving to Bend on Saturday and saw two weigh stations on the way. Thought it would be good to start a list of them. Please add to the list as you find them. I know of three more in the area, just need to go by to get the coordinates. These are state operated stations.

Foster Lake east of Sweet Home, Oregon. It is on the north side of the road.The scales are active when no one is home. Latitude 44D 24.8010M Longitude 122D 37.4339M

Just east of Sisters, Oregon on the south side of the road at the intersection of Highway 20 and 126. The scales are active when no one is home.
Latitude 44D 17.2819
Longitude 121D 32.4910M

I've never stopped at a weigh station. And don't plan to start stopping.

Most weight stations leave their scales on when they're closed. They're a good place to see how chubby your rig is.

Totally agree. Go to a public scale if you want to weigh your van.

Why pay at a public scale when you can roll onto the scale at a closed weigh station for free? I roll my work truck over closed weigh stations all the time to check the weight. It's a commom practice in the trucking world. I'm pretty sure they leave the scales on so drivers can make sure they are running legal weights.

larrie, here's a scale I've used to see how much my van weighs: (42.271576, -120.35477)

Just north of Lakeview, OR. Unattended but left "on".

I also check my weight sometimes in Oregon. Last trip over with the trailer I was 9600 pounds on my rear axle

, and a bit over 22,000 combined.

Many of the scales around here are free to weigh your van...they charge if you're hauling but generally have never charged me. Guess all are different.

Two more in Oregon. These are on I-5 south of Portland. Heading north there is one at mile post 274. This one was closed but the scales were on. Heading south there is one at mile post 275. This one was open and full of big rigs.

I would never pay to with my van. I just figure that is nice to know where they are so I can check my weight on occasion as I add more goodies to it.

The other use for them, if they are closed, is to check individual wheel weights and side to side weight. Am planning on adding larger house batteries and swapping out the cooler for a fridge. Knowing the side to side and individual wheel weights will give me some idea of where to mount the batteries so that the van stays balanced.
