I hear there is a job opening.

Re: What tools, equipment do you carry?

Keith:
the accepted wisdom here on Kodiak Island is that only a 12 gauge shotgun shooting 1 oz slugs or a large caliber rifle shooting at least a 220 grain bullet will stop a bear. I suspect a Taser would just piss him off.

Do you think that would slow a bear? I carry a 9mm but it really isn't much good (so I'm told) against a bear.

Re: What tools, equipment do you carry?

Keith,

Also got a Bear spray for Yogi and Friends. We have seen bears roaming around our site a few times. Usually loud noises scare them off and never had to use the bear spray. On that note, proper respect for your surroundings is the best self defense against animals IMO. We are intruding their homes.

If/when I ever get into large bear territory I'll definately add bear spray to my gear list.

http://www.udap.com/product.htm

I'd assign odds of 0.001% to my being able to react fast enough and steadily enough in an attack to get in a kill shot with a 12ga or a big bore rifle.

Re: What tools, equipment do you carry?

Gun control means using both hands and a tight 5 shot pattern.
Happy Turkey Day!

A 9mm isn't even a sure thing against a person. Unless, of course, waving it at them scares them off.

I'm somewhat kidding, but somewhat not.

Little off subject: That's what I carried in the Army and what I carried in Iraq. Bigger would be better most likely but I wanted something for cc. I use a 147gr P+, 1135 fps.

Re: What tools, equipment do you carry?

The only thing I don't have yet is a tow rope or strap. Are they all the same? Is there a preferred length?

Regards,

Keith
