Wheel rub on Chevy express with 33" tires

Just got my 2018 Chevy express 3500 converted with a three inch lift and 33" tires. I get a bit of wheel rub when I need to turn sharply, mostly on uneven ground. Rubbing on the body mount bracket (see pic). Trimming the body mount bracket should help a lot, but I am hesitant to do this. Has anyone else run into this problem? What have you done about it? Is it common to run 33" inch tires on a lifted Chevy express? or is this a common trade off for running bigger tires?

Can't tell exactly what body mount. I have 33" tires and about a 4-5" lift. The front body mount at the back of the wheel well was trimmed. Let me get a picture. Also, I installed the Weldtec Designs mini-fender because I could get contact when the wheel was turned the right angle and there was deflection of the front suspension.

Same for me. Weldtec has a video about it posted on YouTube you should check out. I trimmed mine myself with an angle grinder.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but I’ve been doing some deep diving in lifting my express van. Curious if you guys had to regear or tune anything to accommodate the bigger tires???

I didn’t, but have 4.10 gears and a 6 liter.

Nice. Thanks for the reply. My van is a 2019 Express 3500 Extended 6.0. The passenger version. I have no RPO sticker that I can find so I don’t 100% know my ratio. 6th gear is really low in the rpms so I’m just assuming it’s not a 4.10. Did you end up recalibrating the speedo and all that? Or just slap it all together and let’er eat?

The RPO sticker should be on the passenger side door. Not the jam but the actual part of the door that faces the jam. Kinda strange spot. I had 3.54 gears in mine originally but it’s a diesel so a little different. If I didn’t tow somewhat regularly I probably would’ve left them but as it is I did re gear to 4.11.

I also have a tune which recalibrated the speedo.

I’m pretty sure my door isn’t stock because I have no RPO sticker, so I’m going to have to have to measure it manually. I’m pretty sure mine has a 3.73, but want to make sure. I’ll just budget in a regear and a tune for the Speedo, I’ve got a buddy with a programmer so hopefully he can do it. Possibly put a locker in it.
