Looking to upgrade my wheels and tires. I want a more aggressive look so I'm getting a 5in backspace with about a -12 offset.
I'm trying to decide if I should go bigger than 17" wheels because A) cost and B) I don't know if anything bigger will fit ( I have a 4 inch lift standard quigley.)
I also want them to last long and I drive on sharp rocks and up mountains constantly. Anybody have examples of what they've done or suggestions? I'd love to hear your opinion!
I would stick with 17s if your running around rocks all the time so you have more sidewall. I personally like the run the smallest wheel possible but that's because I like more tire than wheel.
Aren't 18" tires expensive? 4" lift, so that means you could run a 285 max?
I run 285s on 17s on my Quigley and they seem about right to me. I agree with Jsweezy, going with a larger rim and subsequently less tire would also compromise a bit of on-road cush too.

When we upgraded we put 315's on Raceline 16" rims (we had 275's on 16's originally). More rubber gives a better ride on bad roads. I did have to trim the rear of the front wheel wells and fender flares some so they didn't rub on a hard turn but well worth it. Joe
