Where to get Financing?

Hello to all of you out there in Sportsmobile Land. I am new to the forum and would like to say hello. I have only been lurking for a few weeks - but I have already found a vehicle I am interested in buying (Veg Head's). I applied for an RV loan from my bank (Skank of America) - but was told that this vehicle does not qualify for financing. So........... where did you all go for financing?

I look forward to becoming an active member of the community here (I just need to get my hands on one of these beasts) and hopefully meeting some of you further on down the old dusty trail.

Re: Where to get Financing?

wow - no matter how many web forums one joins (I have at least 3 that I post to with regularity - TDIclub, ADVrider, F650 - if anyone is around my screen name is the same) they always seem to forget about the "search" function when asking their first question.

sorry for noob faux pas

Re: Where to get Financing?

I had a great experience with State Farm Bank...you don't have to have State Farm Insurance..
I heard from AdventureDuo about SFB and ask my agent, it was very easy.
I did the loan personally rather than under the non-profit name also, mainly because I wanted to make it happen rather than wait for Disabled Explorers to grow & have enough money.

I have heard from folks that credit unions are good options also.

well the state farm bank that I went through valued the vehicle at $2500 and was not even willing to look at an third party assessment of the vehicle value.

so I am going to try another state farm bank and try the local credit union...........

Re: Where to get Financing?

I had the same problem with State Farm and am working with a credit union now.

I would suggest speaking with the underwriter first if at all possible. Provide them with "comps", replacement cost new, and the build sheet for the van in question. Also, try to get a copy of the RV KBB. It has been a long process for me and was ever more frustrating after being "pre-approved" then having the lender back out last minute when they finally understood what a "Sportsmobile" actually was.

I found a credit union that is willing to help. Feel free to PM me if you would like to discuss further.

Re: Where to get Financing?

Don't forget Sportsmobile themselves, they don't finance but they will do their best in assisting valuation.
