Width of Ford E-van PH top (ref: mounting solar panels)?
I've searched a good bit, and can't seem to find a definitive answer: what is the width of a PH top for an E-van (mine's a 98 EB, but I assume they are all the same)? Unfortunately my van is parked at my brother's house for the winter and I don't have access to it at this moment to measure on my own.
Why I'm asking: I'm continuing to spec out my solar install for this spring, and need to decide on which panels to get. I'll be installing Thule tracks the length of the PH roof (outside of the canvas envelope) and will attach the panels (2) to them via clips. So what's the ideal width of solar panel to get? (I.e., how far apart will the tracks likely be?)
Looking at the Renogy 100w mono panels. The Eclipse model is 40.8" wide and weighs 15#, costs $187. The standard panel is about 6" wider (47") and weighs 1.5# more, is about $52 cheaper at $135. I'm not going to spend an extra $52 (x2) to save 1.5 pounds, but if the smaller size is a better fit then I'll consider it. Ideally I'd rather not have the panels hanging over the side of the van.
