    Hello,

I was looking for information about isolators and stumbled across your excellent explanation and lengthy thread. I know a lot more know than before, but still have a few questions.

We own a 1994 SMB on a Dodge Ram. The odometer is a bit shy of 160K and she's still running strong. I'm intending to keep it for as long as I can and was wondering about the life expectancy of the isolator. I have not experienced any problems, but I recognize that there is a "service life" for any device, and I'm thinking that I should put a new one in as part of my preventive maintence program. Although there is no documentation of the brand of isolator installed, from your post and photos I believe it to be a Sure Power. It is mounted in the engine compartment below the battery shelf and is one of the old, clunky ones with the cooling fins. Your insight and suggestions would be most helpful. Many thanks, Matt
