The Ford 6.0L has two major issues, one is the oil cooler, and the other is the EGR cooler.

Ford updated the oil cooler design after the 6.0 production cycle. Some people go with aftermarket oil coolers (e.g. BulletProof Diesel) and some go withj the updated Ford design. When I had my 6.0L SMB, I went with the Ford design. I think there are some external, visible differences between the original and the updated design, but I don't know what those are off the top of my head.

Regarding the EGR cooler, I don't know if Ford ever properly addressed that. I went with a BulletProof EGR cooler, and again, external, visual clues but I don't recall what they are anymore.

Sorry I didn't respond sooner, people do not get notified when someone posts a profile comment. Private Messages (PM's) can be set to notify you when someone sends you one.

Hey would like to know what you mean about EGR/oil cooler. I have a 2008 6.0 Diesel how would I find out if this was done with my build out and if it hasn’t been done should I do this and what else do you recommend to keep the 6.0 running mine has only 30,000 miles and all service done.
