Hi Dana, Really sorry about not getting back to you sooner. I have a few hair line cracks on my roof but have not done any repairs (yet). When I first got my van I poured a layer of liquid wax on the Penthouse top. Each year I put another layer of liquid wax on the Penthouse. 12 years ago I mounted solar panels on the van top and 10 years ago mounted a set of Thule bars over the solar panels. Only problem with the top has been the center pivot bolts on the bars that support the Penthouse top. Both bolts failed and had to be replaced. I also rebuilt and reinforced the push up pad on the inside of the Penthouse. I have pushed the Penthouse top up no more than 10 times a year and was surprised when the bolts failed. Safe travels.
Hi Michael! Dana Lasswell here, of John and Dana. We are going to get the cracks in our roof repaired and they appear very similar in location and size to yours. Did your temporary reinforcement with rivets do the trick or did they end up requiring a weld at Sportsmobile? We're hoping to avoid a drive to Fresno and do have some really good welders in our area. A patch, adhesive, and riveting is well within our area of repair expertise if that appears to have worked for you. Any info you can share would be super. We spoke with Peter about it previously and just gave him a follow-up call as well. Thanks so much! Dana
