DIY 4x4 conversion options

I'm toying around with the idea converting my '98 E250 to 4WD sometime further down the road.
I've seen different kits around, Agile, UJOR, Pathfinder etc....
All use E350 front axles.
How about using a coil sprung TTIB ?
Being in Germany I have to take what I can get, or import it for big money. So my thoughts go towards buying a salvage F-series truck and rip the needed parts off that one. I could even buy a US Army surplus F-series for reasonable money.
What years F-series would be the best choices to get as many parts of it as possible. My van is a 98 E250 5.4.

That's what Ramsey does with his 4wd conversion. Most of what you see posted on this forum regarding Agile Offroad is Ramsey improving Quigley 4wd conversions with his RIP, but the actual conversion that Agile Offroad performs are TTB.

Guess I'll have to contact Ramsey to have an extensive talk to him :b1:

Another way for a do it yourself conversion is to buy a kit from U-Joint. Chris can custom a kit regarding your personal needs and send it to you. Easy to install, his conversions perform really well.
Ask him for what you want and he'll make you a quote. ;-)

Here is an idea. I might follow this guy as an example.
