Re: Dually Rear End Sprinters ...

:a2: I'm amazed that the front two tires of that truck are even on the ground ...

Thanks for the laugh!

Re: Dually Rear End Sprinters ...

If you mean over the weight limit that would be wrong. [/quote]

Awesome info, Keith! Sounds like you actually climbed on a scale to find out. By over-built, I meant built to handle more weight...

Re: Dually Rear End Sprinters ...

Have you ever had the van weighed? How does your van handle when it's fully loaded, or as fully loaded as you've had it, that is ...?

Thanks,

Brian

Re: Dually Rear End Sprinters ...

That seems to be great info. The wheelbase on the EB and LB is 26" longer than the RB, but I'm not sure that means that the GVWR goes up, too. Matter of fact, the SMB info indicates that the GVWR...

Re: Dinghies and Other Possible Options ...

I like the way it breaks down. Cool!

Right now I'm thinking about a Vespa LX150 hanging on one of these:

Re: Dually Rear End Sprinters ...

It really does, Fred. Thank you.

What I'm not clear about, as it pertains to you and your vehicle is: which Sprinter do you have (assuming that you do)? An RB, EB, LB - PH, Tall, etc?

If you...

Re: Dually Rear End Sprinters ...

There I go assuming again ... I guess that other than the GVWR numbers the web site offers, one way to know for sure, is to buy one, outfit it, fill it with fuel, propane, gear and passengers and...

Re: SMB with a SLIDE-OUT!!

To be more accurate: not another true B and ZERO true B Sprinters have slide-outs ... The Great West is a Ford.

Thanks,

Brian

Re: SMB with a SLIDE-OUT!!

Not another true B. The list is long and growing for B+'s and C's though ... The following are all Sprinter-based with single slide-outs:

Winnebago View; Gulf Stream Mini Vista; Coachmen Prism;...

Re: Dually Rear End Sprinters ...

Well, the GVWR for the Sprinter (the SMB web site doesn't specify length) is 8500#.

25 gallons of fuel weighs about 210#, two people 350#. Maybe 200# worth of clothes, dishware, food. Another...

SMB with a SLIDE-OUT!!

I had no idea. This must've been aftermarket, or before SMB got to it. Great idea though. Anyone know for sure who did the work?

Dinghies and Other Possible Options ...

The more we get into this process of choosing what we want, the more I wonder about what I want as far as extra wheels. Do I just bring a couple of bikes? Do I tow a small trailer with a couple of...

Re: Dually Rear End Sprinters ...

There's a lot to be said for that. I hadn't considered it from that perspective. I'll have to check the FedEx and DHL vehicles a little more closely and see what they use. I haven't done my due...

Re: Dually Rear End Sprinters ...

For the record, you can get a dually Sprinter - it's a 3500 versus a 2500 chassis. It's not a conversion like the 4x4's SMB does, for example. It has to be ordered that way from the factory. Only...

Re: Dually Rear End Sprinters ...

Yeah, I called them yesterday and they confirmed that. If only they'd build an EB with a PH ...

Sigh ...

Thanks,

Dually Rear End Sprinters ...

My wife and I went out comparison shopping today (alas, no SMB's :a6: ). We saw about 6 different class B's and C's with Sprinter chassises. One salesman we spoke to really likes the Pleasureway...

Re: Brand-Newbie has questions ...

I hope the former is true ... The way I think of the folks who regulate imports in the US is that they don't think they've done their jobs until they "modify" something. That usually requires some...

Re: Brand-Newbie has questions ...

Thanks, Herb,

Looks like a nice vehicle, but I think we're probably more interested in a lower profile with a PH. Not positive though. I appreciate your looking for me.

Re: Brand-Newbie has questions ...

Thanks,

That's actually where we began, and may well end up. I responded to an ad on Craigslist in Morro Bay (I think it's still available, btw ...) $18.5 for a 2002 with 200K miles. He had it...

Re: Brand-Newbie has questions ...

Thanks, Herb,

I know the Sprinter's a bit longer and taller, too. They only put a PH on the regular shorter roof though, right? Does all/any of that make a difference, in your opinion, to...

Re: Brand-Newbie has questions ...

In my understanding, once you bring a vehicle to the US and put it through all of the emissions changes, etc. - the resulting "new vehicle" can take a shake-down period of at least a year or so...
