If you have the coin, i would go with the 4 sp 10:1 t-case. Options are gooooood to have, if you ever need them. I do not own a SMB yet, but have some pretty low gearing in my Power Wagon. 1st gear...

They should have 2 fill holes IMO. 1 for reg setups & 1 for rotated setups. Or at least include the fill amounts for stock set ups, so you are sure you have enough but not too much fluid.

They do that to save money, & so people that want to rotate the axle for better pinion angle can use the same axle without underfilling it. Many aftermarket covers are like that.

Spare parts are a great idea if you have the room. U-joints-hoses-belts-fan clutch-t stat w/gasket-& tools for same is a good start.
