Chevy Astro 4x4, the 4'8" wide would just work, however its about 9'2" at the center tapering back to 9' at both front corners, is there enough lid in front of the tent area to shorten the assembly...

Yeah I was referring to the Ford pics you posted, I was also noticing that from the top down pics the edges (I'm assuming the seals for the fiberglass top on on the inside edges, yes?) on the side...

It seems like bending the beams (ignoring the manufacturer's warnings cast directly on the part) would put you in a bad spot legally should an accident occur, liability...
