Re: Live in Denver and would like to see a Sportmobile

Mine's a Ford 2WD. It is in Denver though and you'd be welcome to look at it.

There are a bunch of pictures in my gallery from when it was being built last year.

Wow! That does look great. I can't wait to see it. Let me know when you have it back in Denver.

Re: Planned mods to propane system

All of that about the reason for the oil and the about repeated overfilling matches what I have read too.

The repeated overfilling doesn't apply in my case because my system is brand new and I saw...

Re: Planned mods to propane system

That's a good idea about having a control valve right at the tank before the propane goes into the hose. That would seem to address the safety issue. Mine does not have that.

I wondered the same...

Planned mods to propane system

I am planning two modifications to my propane system and want to see if anybody has any thoughts on them.

This all started with a trip to a propane specialty shop in Denver. The guys there seemed...

Re: Penthouse Bed - Fore or Aft?

I agree with you guys about needing a good solid surface to stand on to get up into the bed. Through dumb luck I have solid countertops that I can use with the bed in either fore or aft position. I...

Re: Penthouse Bed - Fore or Aft?

Hmmm. I didn't even realize that some SMB beds are two piece. Mine's one piece so I thought they all were.

Do you or does anybody know what drives the decision to go one piece vs two piece? That...

Re: Penthouse Bed - Fore or Aft?

rallypanam: Yeah, I figured that the prevalence of 50 layouts and of pictures of penthouse beds positioned aft would go hand in hand. I understand why it makes sense there.

Penthouse Bed - Fore or Aft?

Pretty early on in my experience with my SMB I discovered that I preferred the setup if I had the penthouse bed pushed toward the front of the van for sleeping rather than to the rear. Here are my...

Re: Broken pane in 42" slider window

daveb: It sounds from your experience and from everything else on this thread that those windows should simply not break from heat alone. I like 1der's idea of the possibility of some underlying flaw...

Re: Broken pane in 42" slider window

Huge Success!!

On Tuesday this week I called SMB North and arranged for them to send a replacement window unit to a shop here. They built a crate for it and had it on a UPS truck within an hour!...

Re: Broken pane in 42" slider window

I learned a bit more about this over the weekend. I went out to the van in the early afternoon on Saturday and I was amazed to see just how intense the sun was on it where I had it parked. Thinking...

Re: Broken pane in 42" slider window

Thanks for the cool videos. One of the first thoughts that I had when I saw my window this morning was, "Wow, these things are pretty vulnerable!".

There's obviously no stopping a vandal but I...

Re: Broken pane in 42" slider window

I do not suspect vandalism. I say that because the pane was spider-web shattered throughout but there was no hole in it. A very light finger touch by me created the first hole. If it had been done by...

Re: Broken pane in 42" slider window

Yeah, I thought that it was weird too.

They are factory-tinted. I've done no modifications to them since I bought the van new from SMB North last year. I'll probably end up talking to SMB North at...

Broken pane in 42" slider window

I went out to the van this morning and discovered a broken window. It's the fixed pane on a 42" x 15" slider.

My guess is that it is weather related. Normally I would suspect heat but it has...

Re: Where to take a shower

We were on a trip around Colorado a couple of weeks ago and needed a shower. We decided to piggyback it on a visit to the Hot Springs at Ouray. The sign at the front said something like "Hot Pool -...

Steve:

Thanks for talking to me before my build about your experience with this feature. SMB installed mine exactly as I had hoped and it seems to work fine. The Sturgi-flow kit is installed...

It sounds like you are thinking this thing through pretty well. It sure helps to have all of those ideas out on the Forum doesn't it? They sure helped me before my recent build.

Since you like...

Re: My build at SMB North

Friday was another wonderful day. I had camped at Salamonie State Park near Huntington, which I can recommend to anybody else picking up at SMB North. Of course in November I had the place to myself....

I picked up the van yesterday and camped in it last night. I love it! :b5:

I flew from Denver to Ft. Wayne on Wednesday evening. Nancy from SMB picked me up from the hotel on Thursday morning....

Re: Winter camping and moisture/condensation control

Thanks for starting a ski and camp thread. I'm taking delivery of my van next week and my first season with it will now be a winter one, hopefully filled with lots of ski camping. I'll try to...
