Fabulous! :b5: I am **SO** jealous, I always wanted to shuck IT work and build boats, but never could figure out a way to do it and still live in the US. SWMBO and I once had world-cruise...

Re: Inflatable kayaks/canoes?

I would love to have one of those for fishing, how small does it fold up if you are diligent? The other problem aside from space would be convincing SWMBO that we need yet another accessory for the...

Re: MB Sprinter vans & rust

Yup, paint is apparently super thin, standard rock chips will take it down to bare metal. Buddy of mine has had to repaint his a couple times.
Re: Runaway Diesel

I was thinking more limiting collateral damage or injury. I think if a 6.0 had a runaway, its probably done anyways. I think chances are better than not, that most diesels won't be usable after a...

Re: Runaway Diesel

Fire extinguisher pointed in the intake. CO2 will do it quickest, but a dry-chem *should* eventually plug the filter and stop it too.
If you fire a dry-chem extinguisher into the air...

Re: What's this?

Looks like big capacitors, did it have a BIG BASS sound system at one point? A lot of those guys install ultra-capacitors to provide high-current transients to their earthquake boxes.

Re: 2008 Coach House Platinum 272LFS

I'm pretty sure this is the one that was for sale a couple years ago down near Santa Cruz. We took a look at it, decided it was longer than we wanted and (at that time) quite a bit higher asking...

Re: Side ladder stove/grill stand mock up

I want one of those too, but I've never found a great deal on one. Do you have a link where you got yours (if it was recent)?
:b4: Do you doubt that such an animal exists? :b3: :a3:
Well, aside from that, I doubt you are going to find any low mileage SMB in excellent condition for under $40K.

Re: Small solar charger just to keep batteries topped off?

Re: 5 minutes left!

Don't know how long non-binding bids in Motors have been the case, but it's been a while. If you check the bid list on that van, the "winning" bidder has over 100 feedback, so it's a bit unlikely it...

Re: SMB Sightings

We just saw another Hymer last week on our way back from 3 weeks in Oregon, this one was on a Mercedes chassis at a little campground near Cloverdale, CA. German couple in that one, also.

Re: Sprinter 4 cyl Alternator recomendation

The biggest motivator to get the second alternator mount on a Sprinter is that the stock alternator is controlled by the car computer over the CANBUS, which means you play heck trying to install an...

Re: Sprinter 4 cyl Alternator recomendation

Doesn't take any more power to spin a larger alternator unless you are drawing more current from it. In which case, that's why you wanted the bigger one. Amp for amp, they are going to draw...

Re: How long for final Charge states with Honda EU2000

I wonder if it depends on the regulator of the alternator. My alternator takes my batteries well into the absorption state. My battery voltage will actually stay above 12.8 for several minutes W/O...

Re: How long for final Charge states with Honda EU2000

Yep, that's the way lead-acid batteries work. On our rig, the batteries get pretty near if not fully charged on driving days. Or when we happen to camp with an electric plugin. Otherwise, we run...
