I built my own box off the swinging side door, but not with the intent for it to be a "galley box". It is intended to be like a dresser for my wife's clothes.

If you really want to get them out of the way, throw them out back in a Trasharoo (if you have a spare tire to hang a Trasharoo on of course). I agree though. Shoes are a huge space taker for us. ...
