Peter did not address that specifically, but I know the fill valve at the tank must be closed: else when the pump is turned on it will just cycle water through the tank.

Melstrails - we have a 2015 high roof sprinter with 2 side by side solar panels and an awning. In our first 1000 miles we have not heard whistling. We had quite a few of those miles on freeways at 65...
