If using the Hi-Lift for those purposes is great, I suggest the wheel adapter which allows you to lift a wheel. Also the base so you don't sink the jack in mud and also much more stable.

I agree that a stock bumper may bend, even with bumper attachment. Depends on why you're lifting as there may be other methods.
