If you end up with a really long extension (either by hitch extender or extra long ball mount) then don't forget the 7-wire connector extension, if needed. Basically, this is just an extension cord....

I think this has been discussed before .. hitch extender or extra long ball mounts. Both do the intended job but one has a somewhat different GTW and TW and the other doesn't. For example:
