Haven't been around in a bit gents... 5/8" plywood for the fold down beds. No padding only carpeted on both sides. We use various inflatable mattresses for our needs.

On my continuing quest for compact, removable gear/storage etc, the GF just finished sewing up our kitchen caddy.
Holds most of our kitchen utensils, freeing up our small amount of cabinet space....

Careful with that if you are using it for sand and dirt. It may be light, but it's made for snow and it will chip or shatter if you strike a cobble or boulder. You may be better off with an army...
