Bummer, Len! Do you know if that was a 4L60e or 4L80e? How many miles did you end up getting out of it? I have surprisingly gotten 310k (and still going) out of the 4L80e in my work truck.

It looks like a 7-ply sheet was used which will certainly help, but without referencing any backup data I'd say that the strong axis would take twice the load for the same deflection.

Stan - if your bed feels flexy, you may consider running your plywood the 'long' way, ie with the grain running perpendicular to the van or parallel to the span. It looks like you've got some nice...

VERY nice Len! I like the mounting location and makes me think I could just use the tire as the first step like this. Keeps it simple, clean, and out of the way. I like the griptape on the rungs...
