What would have contributed to that high a replacement cost DePark---was was different or significant about that van?

Adding DePark's encounter with the smaller unit-body car and all bodies...

As a former body shop owner, at the advent of unit body cars with emerging technology and development of crumple zones their inclusion in a body-on-frame vehicle are almost useless. I don't see them...
