I have an '08 and had the same thing happen when I first programed the Scan Gauge. If you go the the companies web site there is a table of X-Gauge codes. There were 3 different codes...

After looking at my grill I agree with what you are saying. On the 08" Ford made the grill opening larger then filled it up with cheap chrome coated plastic.

First I can verify that when you get over 230 you may get a nice :a6: coating of transmission fluid on the underside of you SMB. On the way to Dever this month I blew 1 quart of fluid...
