Rusty lives on

Well, Slacker has put the word out but I asked him if he would like me to continue this thread, so here goes. Rusty has been sold. New member Slacker has been talking to me for a couple months...

Re: Look what just drove up in my driveway, it's Rusty!

2horse, I'm very satisfied with it. It is plenty rigid for making a tilting setup. I considered it too but mine is up under the front lip of my roof box a couple inches so that won't work. I...

Re: Look what just drove up in my driveway, it's Rusty!

Time for a an update. I've continued to tinker a little bit with Rusty but mostly these days I'm just enjoying it. We've put 16k on it in the last year and a half or so for a grand total of 35k. ...

Re: Look what just drove up in my driveway, it's Rusty!

Thanks amigo! I appreciate it. I'm building a garage right now, or an SMB cave more specifically, which I guess I should just add to this thread. It's going to allow me to build my next one and...

Re: Look what just drove up in my driveway, it's Rusty!

I drilled for the wires just behind the front mounting bolts (that you can barely see in one of the pictures), so it is outside of the canvas, then I brought it through between the canvas and top in...

Re: Look what just drove up in my driveway, it's Rusty!

Solar. Been waiting on this for a long time. First, I recently took an overnight trip to visit family and it dropped down in the 20's. I was not in the van that night and left it unplugged. Had I...

Re: Look what just drove up in my driveway, it's Rusty!

Probably. It's really tight to get to the bolts that hold this rack in place. I will probably get to it on a nice warm day, which means I may just live with it awhile. I don't need air that often...

Re: Look what just drove up in my driveway, it's Rusty!

I haven't updated but pretty sure I've figured out the problem. The relief valve is interfering with the body above it. I thought I had good clearance but don't. It's barely touching a corner of...

Re: Look what just drove up in my driveway, it's Rusty!

Thanks Josh! Onboard air is almost a novelty as I've never aired down for off-roading, but I love having it just for the self sufficiency and ability to clean stuff.

Re: Look what just drove up in my driveway, it's Rusty!

Thanks Claude, and Boywonder. I used those bolts because I already had them, so I used pretty big washers. I think the tensile strength of them is still like 3000 pounds each so I'm hoping I'm ok. ...

Re: Look what just drove up in my driveway, it's Rusty!

I'm almost out to the end of my to-do list on my van, but the original 9(?) gallon water tank wasn't cutting it, especially since I added an outside shower and a hot water heater. I removed my rear...
