I thought that as well. Right up until I had the shock all the way on and couldn't get the gear wrench off, because there wasn't enough room above the shock stem.

I was guessing that it made more sense in the taller lifts. And yes, I really didn't love going back to fiddling with the upper nut on the stem mount.
