Re: Quigley Steering Stabilizer/Damper
Larus & j.whitebread - you're right, what I'm doing is a bandaid solution. Actually, any modifications to a stock system is a bandaid. I think Larus solution is a better way to go, but finding...

Re: Quigley Steering Stabilizer/Damper
I know, I know.... Didn't take any pictures during installation. But, really nothing fancy here. First off, it is not 100%, but WAY better then before. Even with the dual stabilizer setup I had. As...

Re: Quigley Steering Stabilizer/Damper
There's a lot of stabilizer posts here, but I'm sticking with the first one that was started. To get to the point, I've changed my stabilizer setup from my original post on the second page here. That...

Re: Quigley Steering Stabilizer/Damper
Yeah, almost three inches. Actually, that just made it about 1/2" higher then when I picked up the van new. Sure hope the Deaver's last longer then the stock ones. But if nothing else, the ride is...

Re: Quigley Steering Stabilizer/Damper
Yeah, I got black boots and did my Stabilizers too.
Not sure if I'll keep the boots. I like 'em for protecting the shafts from rock dings, but they also can trap water and then the shafts...

Re: Quigley Steering Stabilizer/Damper
Yikes, didn't think about the Deaver's making a difference on the fitment of the stabilizer. Sorry about that. :a6:
daveb, the U-bolts that hold the center bracket onto the axle tighten up where I...

Re: Quigley Steering Stabilizer/Damper
It' like - you're right NRL. I just went to their web site and it's now $166. Way too much. I still have my invoice and charge receipt from last week, $103.88. You might go to Amazon here:

Re: Quigley Steering Stabilizer/Damper
Just read my installation post and realized that it sounds like the Deaver springs caused my van to start to wander. NOT THE CASE! My rig was wandering so bad before the Deaver's that it was scary....

Re: Quigley Steering Stabilizer/Damper
The dual stabilizers were installed for two reasons.
1) I (and most folks with modified 4x4s and oversize tires) feel that once you get tires over 32", a steering stabilizer is a good idea. It will...

Re: Quigley Steering Stabilizer/Damper
Well, I installed a steering stabilizer on the van yesterday! The job only took and hour and a half. The real hassle was trying to figure out what kit to get to fit the SMB conversion. I spent a LOT...

Re: Quigley Steering Stabilizer/Damper
Thanks for your efforts Mike. Totally different setup on my '07. Kinda weird, your photo looks like what's in my official Ford Service manual (which is 2 wheel drive of course) but way different from...
