Re: My SMB Indiana Sprinter building experience

Jim, They re-did it the same way with foam. They say they have never had this problem before, and I am not inclined to tell them how to do these things. We will see if it lasts more than 3 years...

Re: My SMB Indiana Sprinter building experience

This week we took our van back to SMB North in Huntington for them to replace the shower pan (see photos). We have had it almost 3 years now and lived in it almost 500 days. I figure my wife and I...

Re: My SMB Indiana Sprinter building experience

Backed Vanessa into her new shelter before the storm for the first time tonight. Our new pole barn is 32x48 and also holds 3 trailers, a Ford F150, and lots of tractor implements.

Re: My SMB Indiana Sprinter building experience

Thank you for the compliment. I know you are joking about opening a shop, but I will reply anyway. I put a whole lot of time into these upgrades because I enjoyed it and I look forward to using...

Re: My SMB Indiana Sprinter building experience

I have mentioned our dinette table before. The first one I made was too small because it was designed to also work up front. Also the finish on it stuck to hot dishes. So I made a new one and it...

Re: My SMB Indiana Sprinter building experience

The left door armrest in the Sprinter is too low for me (The other armrest has a ratchet to adjust to any height). So I made one using a rigid foam base and a soft foam top. I covered it with the...

Re: My SMB Indiana Sprinter building experience

I installed Airtabs. Although they are supposed to improve fuel mileage, my main interest was to improve van stability in gusty winds. After driving with them for a month, it is impossible to tell if...

Re: My SMB Indiana Sprinter building experience

The foot of our bed extends all the way to the back. This is the only opening from the back into the interior of the van. It is nice to keep the back doors open on hot nights, so we fitted fabric...

Re: My SMB Indiana Sprinter building experience

You may have noticed the electric step below the screen door. The van step is 18 inches above the ground. We did not want running boards, and a portable step is a nuisance to store and place every...

Re: My SMB Indiana Sprinter building experience

The next big project was installing two additional batteries. This is a follow-up to my earlier post here (https://www.sportsmobileforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=10828&hilit=batteries). SMB Indiana...

Re: My SMB Indiana Sprinter building experience

I did some major upgrades to Vanessa in June, then we traveled in July and so am only now posting photos. The positive side of the delay is that now I can also report our experience with them. I...

Re: My SMB Indiana Sprinter building experience

Hi Brian,

I bought these from 3gstore.com and added the model numbers to my site:

Wilson 21" Omni RV Antenna
Wilson Sleek 4G-A Signal Booster for AT&T 4G LTE 815326

Re: My SMB Indiana Sprinter building experience

Hi Mike,

The Sprinter is a much smoother ride and very pleasant and comfortable behind the wheel. Our finished and loaded SMB weighs about the same as our empty F-550 crew cab (10,000 lb), and...

Re: My SMB Indiana Sprinter building experience

I told SMB Indiana about the above problems and also referred them to this thread. They did say they would put extra insulation around the refrigerator. The main problem was the freezer door anyway....

Re: My SMB Indiana Sprinter building experience

We are back from our two week maiden voyage with Vanessa in northern Florida. We had great weather for hiking and boating and we had time for shakedown and organizing. We stayed at Walmarts on the...

Re: My SMB Indiana Sprinter building experience

Jeff,

The propane furnace and generator use up the small propane tank that SMB uses pretty quickly. We like dry camping and winter camping and want longer stay times. It is much more convenient to...

Re: My SMB Indiana Sprinter building experience

Now we are out of the cold Indiana weather, down in Florida, enjoying living in Vanessa. Some rain moved in today so now is the time to post some photos. You can find detailed drawings with...

Re: My SMB Indiana Sprinter building experience

Firetrux,

I felt a cold draft on my face near the window, but I am pretty sure the window was tight and the cold window cooled the air and it then fell down. The fabric pleated shades help...

Re: My SMB Indiana Sprinter building experience

We picked up our finished Vanessa last Thursday in Huntington, spent the night in their lot, talked to them in the morning, then brought her home. We are very happy with everything! We have been very...

Re: My SMB Indiana Sprinter building experience

Hi Chumley,

I am not sure why they made the front storage pull down; my drawing has them all pull up. They changed some other details from my drawings without asking, but none seem to be a problem...

Re: My SMB Indiana Sprinter building experience

I brought Vanessa home for 10 days while SMB was on holiday break. The rear cabinet was all done so this was an opportunity for me to add my audio/video electronics. I worked every day including...

Re: My SMB Indiana Sprinter building experience

My Espar D2 has been running on high most of the time the past few days with sub-30 degree weather. The noise seems no worse than the propane Suburban I had in my last rig. What I really like is that...

Re: My SMB Indiana Sprinter building experience

I originally specified the Espar D4, but the only place we could install is next to the dually wheel well, and SMB Indiana told me the D4 would not fit there. They also told me that the D2 will...

Re: My SMB Indiana Sprinter building experience

Re: My SMB Indiana Sprinter building experience

Progress! Visited Huntington yesterday after about 2.5 weeks of building. Wow, this is getting exciting!

Everything is on the roof and the diesel generator is mounted. Starting from the back they...
