Why not fabricate a mount onto a safari rack where they can sit the full length of the van? I have thought of such a setup but have had no need thus far.

I have used this type of rod holder for years guiding with no problems both suction cup and magnetic but the magnetic ones work the best even at highway speeds..I have had 3k + on my hood at 65 mph...
